Boat & Caravan Fridge & Solar is a division of Gailian Australia Pty Ltd which in turn is a family owned company. The history of this company goes back to 1971 when the owner, Ian Robinson, formed Ian Robinson Motors to sell and service Citroen and Saab motor cars in Sydney. Ian’s qualifications consist of a certificate in mechanical engineering and subsequently a motor technician’s licence with electrics and electronics being a speciality.

Further experience was gained when developing a complete air conditioning system for the Citroen of the time which was invaluable experience when it came to understanding the intricacies of 12V refrigeration. In 1988 after a very successful year business wise, it was decided to build on land at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast, sell the business in Sydney and permanently retire to Queensland.

At the end of 1994, Boat & Caravan Fridge and Solar was formed (under a different trading name at that point in time) to retail a range of 12V fridges and fridge kits as well as battery chargers that a friend was importing from Sweden.

Much water has passed under the bridge since then and at the end of June, 2009, Boat & Caravan Fridge & Solar changed its name once again to Boat & Caravan Solar after health problems caused Ian Robinson to retire from selling fridges and fridge/freezer kits  and concentrate largely on the solar side of the business  selling Kyocera solar panels and equipment to the boat and caravan manufacturing industry and general market as well as battery management systems and water heaters.
